Rachel Anne McAdams
Rachel Anne McAdams was born on 17
November 1978, in London, Ontario, Canada, to Sandra Kay (Gale), nurse, and
Lance Frederick McAdams who is an auto driver and furniture mover. She is of
English, Welsh, Irish and Scottish heritage. Rachel started acting at the age
of thirteen. Already, she was performing in Shakespearean plays at the summer
theater camp. Rachel graduated with honors from York University with a BFA in
Theater. After her debut on television in Disney's The Famous Jett Jackson in
1998, Rachel appeared in Canadian TV's Slings and Arrows 2003. This
comedy-drama is about the struggle of Shakespearean theater groups. Rachel was
awarded a Gemini Award for her performance in 2003. Her breakout role in Mean
Girls (2004) as Regina George instantly landed her on the list of Hollywood's
most sought-after of promising young actors. Following that film, she had an
acclaimed performance alongside Ryan Gosling in the adaptation of the Nicholas
Sparks bestseller The Notebook (2004) The Notebook was a huge box office hit
and quickly became the main romantic drama for the new, young generation of
moviegoers. McAdams was introduced to Gosling while filming. They began dating
until mid-2007. McAdams and Gosling were soon in a relationship and started to
have a relationship. Following her roles in The Lucky Ones, a military drama,
State of Play, and The Time Traveler's Wife (2009), McAdams appeared opposite
Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr. in Guy Ritchie's global blockbuster Sherlock
Holmes. McAdams portrayed the plucky producer in Morning Glory (2010). McAdams
also played Owen Wilson's romantic fiancee in Midnight in Paris (2011). McAdams
then returned to the world of romantic dramas in The Vow (2012) with Channing
Tatum. McAdams appears in Terrence Malick’s To the Wonder (2012) together with
Ben Affleck and Noomi Rapacace in Brian De Palma's action thriller Passion
(2012).
