Steve Aoki
Steve Aoki was created in Miami, Florida
on the 30th November 1977. American electro house music producer D.J., and
record producer Steve Aoki is his stage name. and music executive. He is the
third child of Chizuru Kobayashi and Rocky Aoki. His father was a former
wrestler, and was also instrumental in helping to develop the chain of
restaurants Benihana. There are two siblings: sister Kana who is commonly known
as Grace because of her middle name Grace, as well as brother Kevin (owner of
Doraku Sushi). Half-sister Devon Aoki is a model and actress. He was born in
Newport Beach, California & graduated from Newport Harbor High School
in 1995. He was on the varsity badminton team. He went on to UC Santa Barbara
and graduated with a 2nd B.A. He also earned two bachelor's degrees: one in
feminist studies and the other in Sociology. He also made records for DIY and
held underground performances in his Biko room at the Santa Barbara Student
Housing Cooperative during his time at college. As a concert venue, the room
became known as The Pickle Patch. He also was active in student involvement at
UCSB, being the founder of an Revolutionary Anti-Imperialist League chapter on
campus. In the early 20s, Dim Mak had started his own record label which he
named Dim Mak after his idol from childhood Bruce Lee. In March 2010 He came
out with I'm in the House, a collaboration w/ the Zuper Blahq, a pseudonym of
the Black Eyed Peas singer will.i.am. The track was ranked the top spot at No.
29 in the U.K. singles chart in the first week. The track later made it into
the U.K. Dance Chart & the U.K. Indie Chart, being among the top 5 in
both charts. The track was featured on the MTV series Jersey Shore. It also was
featured in Piranha the feature film Piranha as well as the trailer for Think
Like A Man. Producer and songwriter Lucas Secon confirmed in a interview in May
2010 with HitQuarters that he & Rivers Cuomo had recently worked w/
Aoki on one song. Pollstar declared him the top-grossing North America dance artist
from tours in 2012 He has worked with many artists such as Afrojack and Linkin
Park, Afrojack. Linkin Park, Will.i.am. Lil Jon. Blink-182, Laidback Luke. BTS.
Louis Tomlinson. Rise Against. Vini Vii & Fall Out Boy. He is
well-known for his remixes with artists like Kid Cudi.
